Journeys Within Signature Tours

Give As You Go Tour

When we first started Journeys Within Tour Company we automatically added in experiences where guests could give back to the communities they visited and in return have once-in-a-lifetime experiences by being a part of these communities. Over the years we have been heralded as “pioneers in philanthropic travel,” and we have taken it to heart and continued to find and support projects throughout Southeast Asia.

Living in Cambodia we could see the problems facing the people and we wanted to be able to make travel a positive force for change so we founded Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC), a non profit 501c3 dedicated to bettering the lives of the communities we live and work in.

This tour visits JWOC projects as well as other projects we feel need our help and deserve it, because of the good they are doing. For our guests, this tour is a way to do more than just visit these amazing countries, it’s a way to give back and become a part of a better future for them. For us travel is about seeing the highlights and experiencing the culture, but also about making the world a better place. Visiting a World Heritage site one day, and changing someone’s life the next, it really doesn't get any better than that.

First Time Asia Tour

This tour is designed for first time Asia goers. Through experience we’ve determined how people imagine Asia and the kind of trip they enjoy on their first visit. Fly into Bangkok and spend some time getting to know this amazing city before heading for the hills. Chiang Mai is the epitome of Thailand, a bustling city surrounded by beautiful countryside and interesting hill tribes.

From Chiang Mai you’ll head to Cambodia, a poor, but fascinating country full of culture and amazing temples. See the famous Angkor Wat and other surrounding temples while staying in the lovely Journeys Within Bed & Breakfast. After seeing the temples and enjoying Cambodian culture head back to Thailand and the island of Phuket. Enjoy seafood on the beach, relax in the pool, and go snorkeling, diving or canoeing in the beautiful Andaman Sea.

Undiscovered Southeast Asia: A Trip Through Cambodia and Laos

Both quiet and small countries Laos and Cambodia have often felt the brunt of aggression from their neighbors and negative press from the West, but these two wonderful countries are brimming with beauty, culture and history.

This 14-day tour starts in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, where you will learn the sad facts of the Pol Pot Regime, but see the bright future in the Royal Palace and National Museum. A boat ride will get you to the world famous Angkor Wat just outside Siem Reap, the worlds largest religious monument and a testament to the once powerful Khmer Empire. From there fly to Pakse, Laos and experience the beauty and majesty of the mighty Mekong. In Vientiane visit wats and marvel at the peacefulness of this quiet capital. Luang Prabang, with its French Colonial influence, is a lovely escape on the banks of the Mekong.

Enjoy day trips to waterfalls and caves and take a day to trek into the stunning landscape to visit hill tribe villages. This trip will give you a better understanding of these small countries and will leave you with an appreciation of their perseverance and culture.

Student Immersion Tour

We have been asked to put together tours for family and student groups and have come up with a great sample itinerary for school groups looking for a true immersion experience. Ideal for ages 12 and up, this tour offers a look at Cambodia past and present and allows students to interact with Cambodians in a safe and supportive environment. We ask all groups to fundraise before arriving in Cambodia so they can see their money being put to use in our Journeys Within Our Community Projects and meet the people benefitting from their hard work. If interested, please email and let us set up a student trip that will change lives on both sides of the world!

A Bed & Breakfast Journey

Visit Chiang Mai, Thailand; Luang Prabang, Laos; and Siem Reap, Cambodia, all from the comfort of a bed & breakfast. Each bed & breakfast is richly decorated in traditional style and run by an excellent local staff and experienced English speaking management. Explore the cultural capitals of these three countries in this amazing 13-day Bed & Breakfast Journey.

Discover Indochina

This fourteen day tour will give you excellent insight into both Cambodia and Vietnam, letting you get to know the many facets of each country. While you will see the highlights there are some amazing off the beaten track moments like visiting some of the more remote Angkor Wat temples and traveling from Cambodia to Vietnam on the Mekong River.

You start your trip exploring Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument, as well as the many temples surrounding it. In Siem Reap, you will be staying at Journeys Within Bed & Breakfast, just minutes from the Angkor Wat park complex. Your hosts Andrea and Brandon Ross will be available to spend time with you answering your questions and giving you an insight into the many facets of Cambodian life, past and present.

After Angkor Wat, journey beyond the temples to Phnom Penh and explore the more recent Khmer Rouge history and see the Cambodia of today. Stay at the Amanjaya Hotel, a gorgeous hotel overlooking the Mekong River.

Next journey down the mighty Mekong River itself, saying goodbye to Cambodia and checking into Vietnam. Here you will start your tour up the length of Vietnam seeing the highlights as you go and staying in properties that will help you relax at the end of a long day. Starting in the south explore fascinating Saigon, to Central Vietnam with historical Hue, charming Hoi An and well known Danang and then up to Hanoi with it’s busy streets and unique Old Quarter. This tour is a great way to get to know these two countries and enjoy some of the nicer hotels they each offer.

Culinary Immersion

Asia is possibly best known for it's food. From the spice of Thai food to the exotic textures of Laos cuisine and the sour mixes found in Cambodia, this tour will take you through these amazing countries exciting your tastebuds along the way. In each city we have tried to include a cooking class focusing on local cuisine, a meal with a local family to get the flavour of authentic cooking and of course one night out at the must-visit restaurant.

Of course food doesn’t tell the whole story so in between these amazing meals we have included the highlights of each country: from the Grand Palace in Bangkok, riding elephants in Chiang Mai, visiting waterfalls in Laos and seeing the amazing Angkor Wat in Cambodia your eyes and ears are going to have as much fun as your tastebuds!

Adventure Asia

This is a get-out-and-do-it-yourself tour. Peddle, paddle and plod your way through these amazing countries! This is a great tour for people on their first trip to Southeast Asia that don’t want to just see the highlights, but also want to get out and get active! From cooking classes to bike rides to elephant adventures, kayaking and trekking this is an amazing way to see Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. You'll go home having seen all the highlights, but also having gone beyond!
