24 Apr 08 Bangkok - Arrival

Catch your flight - arriving at 16:10. Catch your connecting flight - Air Asia FD3704 departing at 18:25 & arriving at 20:25. Arrive at Noibai airport Hanoi, where you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

25 Apr 08 Hanoi - City Tour

Your guide will meet you and will discuss with you what you would like to see. There are so many options that we like to leave it up to you and your guide to decide what suits you best. Some interesting highlights are the Hanoi Hilton, where John McCain and other prisoners were held during the war, it now houses a museum.

Or head to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where you can see Uncle Ho laid out to rest. If you like art you can visit the Fine Art Museum or see which local galleries are offering shows. The Temple of Literature is always a nice place to stroll through and is a great stop before or after lunch as you will be having lunch at KOTO, a restaurant benefiting at risk youths. Your guide will be with you all day so discuss what suits you and then have fun.

26 Apr 08 Halong Bay on Ginger Junk

You will be met and transferred by private air conditioned vehicle to Halong Bay. At the pier, join in with other passengers aboard the luxurious Halong Ginger Junk. Set sail into the bay while lunch is served onboard. Enjoy the stunning views of the magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons’ teeth.

After lunch, stop at one such island to take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay dotted with Halong Ginger golden sails, go swimming on a quiet beach or sunbathing on the sundeck. Later in the afternoon, visit an interesting fishing village where the fishermen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations.

Just before sunset, kayak or relax on a bamboo row boat to explore a water tunnel with many coral reefs in a scenic lagoon. Back on board the Halong Ginger, enjoy cocktails while watching sunset and later unwind at Ginger restaurant.

27 Apr 08 Halong Bay on Ginger Junk

Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi exercise with an opportunity to view the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, visit beautiful limestone grotto then back to the boat for a final glimpse of the Halong Bay while cruising back to the dock. The private car and guide will take you to return to Hanoi.

28 Apr 08 Hue - City Tour

Transfer to Noibai airport for your onward flight -  Vietnam Airways Flight VN245 departing Hanoi 10:10 arriving Hue 11:20.

You will be met on arrival in Hue and taken to check in at your hotel.

With your guide visit the old capital city, a World Cultural Heritage site. Visit the Royal Tombs of Emperor Khai Dinh and Tu Duc. Enjoy lunch at the local restaurant. In the afternoon take a dragon boat across the triangle of the Perfume River, stop to visit Con Hen Island and Thien Mu Pagoda. Continue to Phu Cat quarter to enjoy the special glutinous cakes of Hue: Banh Me, Banh Nam and Banh Uot.

Your guide will take you to the Ancient House in Hue, a beautiful home with gardens exemplifying the use of Feng Shui in ancient architecture. A noted Hue historian and the owner of the home will give you a personal tour and you can then stay and enjoy a home cooked meal with him served in the Ancient House.

29 Apr 08 Hue - Danang - HoiAn

After breakfast drive to Danang where you will visit the Cham Museum, which has the finest collection of Cham sculpture in the world. Also visit the famous Marble Mountain and then have lunch at a restaurant overlooking the river. In the afternoon drive to HoiAn, a picturesque riverside town 30 km south of Danang that was one of South East Asia’s major international ports during the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries. Have dinner at a HoiAn restaurant specializing in HoiAn delicacies like White Rose.

02 May 08 Siem Reap - Arrival

Enjoy your morning at leisure.

Drive to Danang where you will transfer to the airport for your onward flight – Vietnam Airways VN323 departing Danang 13:40 arriving Saigon 14:50. Catch your connecting flight Vietnam Airwaysflight VN847 departing Saigon 16:50 arriving Siem Reap 18:10. You will be met at Siem Reap Airport by a Journeys Within representative and taken to your hotel.

03 May 08 Siem Reap - Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom

In the morning watch the sun rise from the tethered balloon ride.

After breakfast head to Angkor Wat in an air conditioned car with your guide. Explore this majestic temple throughout the morning while it is still cool and has fewer tourists.
In the afternoon head to Angkor Thom, the famous walled city and see the many temples within its borders, including the fascinating Bayon temple with its many magnificent faces smiling out. Walk between the temples as your guide shows you detailed reliefs and hidden wonders.

Head into town to enjoy a traditional buffet dinner and dance show in the evening.

04 May 08 Siem Reap - Rolous Group and Markets

Start the morning with a visit to Rolous Group, a group of Angkorean Temples 15 minutes out side of Siem Reap in a beautiful area. Later take a walk around the Old Market where the locals and tourists shop side by side. Then pay a visit to Artisans de Angkor to see their workshop in town. Here you will be taken on a short tour to see the students learning the skills needed to produce works of art in a variety of different materials before visiting their beautifully displayed shop.

In the evening, dine at Madame Butterfly, a French/Khmer restaurant with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere.

Transfer to the airport in time to catch your flight -  Bangkok Airway PG906 departing at 12:50 & arriving at 14:00.
