Language Schools

Cambodia

In order to give these students a chance, JWOC sponsors and manages two language schools in Siem Reap. These schools provide free classes daily to approximately 300 children and adults ranging in age from 10 to 30 years old.

The subjects taught include English, Japanese, Khmer reading & writing, computer skills, traditional Khmer dance, and photography. JWOC provides the teachers, textbooks, school supplies, and learning aids for each class so that the only thing students have to focus on is learning.

Language Schools

Laos

After the success of the Cambodia language schools a school in Laos was the obvious first project as JWOC began to work there. Using the passion and hard work of our scholarship students, Nicole has set up a wonderful language school that runs each evening after students finish their day at the government school. The students range in age from 7 up to adult, but they all have something in common, a passion to learn.

Give as you go: The language school is a great place to give your time! With the Journeys Within Give and Take tour we now offer in Cambodia and Laos you can see the highlights and then spend a week volunteering at our language school. The cost of volunteering is $300 a week per person and 100% of this goes as a donation. To find out more about volunteering, contact .

Some Words from Our Guests

“You and Brandon really are exceptional people. What a wonderful trip you arranged for us. The last week for me was the most rewarding, teaching at the three community language schools. I will always remember the beautiful glowing faces of students so willing to learn.

“My husband Abraham and I would like to sponsor two students to go to the University. We spoke with Brandon and John before we left. We will take their guidance on which two.

“I would also like to build a well in the squatters village we taught the first class in. The well is a Birthday present to my daughter Holly.”
